The ALFAPARF MILANO FANTASTIC HAIRDRESSER AWARDS 2016, now in its seventh year, is the most widely anticipated and attended awards ceremony in the hairdressing industry on the island of Ireland. The Awards took place in The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Ballsbridge Sunday, 6th of November, 2016.
The Awards give stylists an opportunity to showcase both their creative strengths and commercial acumen, through six artistic, two business and the ALFAPARF MILANO Inixia photographic awards. Winners are recognised and acknowledged as representing the best in Ireland’s hairdressing industry. The Awards’ prestige guarantees a large volume of contestants with almost 1,250 hairdressers from all over Ireland dedicating months of hard work preparing their entries for the nine categories.
Acclaimed stylist, designer and TV presenter, Brendan Courtney, hosted the logistically massive, sold-out event. In recognition of the late David Bowie’s fashion and style iconic status, all the artistic and creative elements presented Bowie themed segments and the results were a spectacular tribute to one of most influential cultural and artistic heroes of his – or any other – generation. Bowie’s constantly evolving style and artistic personas were immediately identifiable through his hair cut; he gavehis artistic alter-egos their own look and that look rested primarily on precision cutting and colouring. Ireland’s best stylists gave back today in a visually stunning style tribute, complete with glorious Bowie back-catalogue soundtrack, to the man who directly inspired many of them and will always be a hero to them all.

The incredibly talented ALFAPARF MILANO Nexxt Generation Style Ambassador Creative team set the scene with a dynamic and dramatic segment entitled “The Thin White Duke”, in homage to Bowie’s 1976 much-lauded persona, directed by ALFAPARF MILANO’s International Educator, Vivica Davies. Stephen Flanagan, ALFAPARF MILANO Nexxt Generation Educator, coordinated the cutting selection while Beatrice Moate, ALFAPARF MILANO Academy Manager, Dublin coordinated the ALFAPARF MILANO colour placement, showcasing the Italian company’s latest collection of metallic colours. Intercoiffure Ireland’s Art & Fashion team delivered a choreographed fantasy segment directed by Maeve O’Healy-Harte and inspired, once again, by The Man Who Fell To Earth (From Heaven). Paul Stafford, ALFAPARF MILANO Global Ambassador, along with his team from Paul Stafford Hair continued the theme, with a decade-spanning homage to this truly generation-defining artist.
